Reading Borough Council and Solar Together have formed a collaborative partnership aimed at empowering local homeowners to harness the power of sunlight and convert it into electricity. Through a group-buying scheme for solar panels and battery storage, residents can invest in renewable energy solutions.
This pioneering initiative builds upon the success of the Solar Together programs that have been implemented across the UK for the past six years. To date, Solar Together has facilitated over 17,000 installations, resulting in the avoidance of more than 350,000 tonnes of carbon emissions throughout their lifetime.
Residents of Reading Borough Council can participate in this group-buying scheme, which not only offers solar panels but also provides the option for battery storage and electric vehicle (EV) charge points. Additionally, there is a retrofit battery storage option available for residents who have already invested in solar panels and are seeking to maximize the benefits of the renewable energy they generate while enhancing their independence from the grid. Registration for the scheme is free, and participants are under no obligation to proceed with an installation.
By joining forces with Solar Together, Reading Borough Council is making it easier for homeowners to embrace clean energy solutions and contribute to a more sustainable future.
