Adie Peppiatt has lived in the constituency since 2000 and was born in the Reading East constituency. Despite a challenging childhood, where their mother left after winning a bingo jackpot, leaving their father to raise four unruly children, the candidate found strength and resilience. Their father remains their hero.
Growing up in difficult circumstances, the candidate learned essential life skills early on, such as cooking, sewing, and earning money through a milk round by the age of 11. However, this came at a cost: they were expelled from three schools and missed about five years of schooling, which they regret. Despite these setbacks, they formed lasting friendships at their last school, maintaining strong bonds that extend to their families today.
These relationships have inspired the candidate to stand as an independent for the Reading West and Mid Berkshire seat. They are committed to advocating for stronger deterrents against knife crime and supporting young people in getting onto the housing ladder.
With a background primarily in bricklaying, the candidate also took a five-year sabbatical to work around Europe. During this time, they humorously acknowledge being the worst waiter in Switzerland and the worst kitchen porter in the Netherlands. As an “Auf Wiedersehen, Pet” veteran, they met their long-suffering wife while working as a bricklayer in Germany, and she continues to stand by them to this day.
If elected, the candidate promises to devote their efforts to lobbying for effective deterrents against knife crime and challenging the stagnation and unimaginative policies of current and previous governments.
In his own words “A vote for this candidate is a vote to give ordinary people a chance to make a difference.”
